Pharmacist, chemist. He went to America where he was a wholesale druggist, of New York. He died in London when home on a visit.
He was the 2nd and eldest surviving son of Jane Ashton and Dr Robert Fox, of Godmanchester, Huntingdon. He was baptised on 12 December 1826 at St Mary's Church, Godmanchester.
He was articled as a pharmacist at Spalding, Lincolnshire.
Aged 14 he went to America, arriving on 24 August 1851.
He died on 14 March 1871 in London, of pneumonia, aged 44, whilst on a visit to England. He was buried in St Mary's Church, Godmanchester.
