According to census records, Caroline was born in North Carolina, USA. However, some sources have her born in Drayton, England. She may have been associated with a different Caroline Fox?
In 1857, came to the US on the steamliner "Espadrille" landed in Newport News, Virginia. With her father, George Fox, a Quaker missionary.

Biography
Caroline Fox was born on 25 Feb 1835 in North Carolina, USA.
In 1860 N R C Fox (age 26) lived in Alexander County, North Carolina in the household of R Austin (51).[1]
In 1870 Caroline Fox (age 37, Domestic Servant) lived in Little River Township, Caldwell County, North Carolina in the household of Rosana Austin (63, Keeping House).[2]
Caroline had twins, born out of wedlock:
- John Lee Fox (1871-1942)
- Martha Rebecca (Fox) Davis (1871-1954)
- According to her daughter's marriage record, their father was William Presnell, but no other records have been located to confirm this.
In 1880 Caroline Fox (age 42, Keeping House) lived in Watauga, Watauga County, North Carolina with her son John (9, At Home), daughter Martha (9, At Home), and boarder Rose Austen (70).[3]
Caroline Fox, born 25 Feb 1835 and died 25 Jun 1893, is buried at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell County.[4]
