Hi Karen

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now, I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful, or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. To contact me, be sure to use the "reply" link below this comment so that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment, on my profile page.

Sometimes links don't work in emails.  If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Welcome back to WikiTree, Karen, and thanks for signing the Honor Code! I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

Check out the How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.

If you have questions about how WikiTree works, I'm here to help. Let me know by replying to this message or sending me a private message.

Debi ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hi Karen,

If you put the mouse in the upper right corner on "My WikiTree" a menu will come down. There you shall see "Watchlist and click, then you will see at top "Switch to Free-Space Watchlist" click and see a free space created for you to upload images to. This keeps them from being private as they are when uploaded to your "private with bio and tree" profile. As you create profiles for your relatives they can easily be moved to display there.

I placed an example here and you can find my profile by clicking on my name above this "Public Bulletin Board" and leave questions or private message me there. If you would like to be the only one that can edit on your free space select the privacy tab at the top of it and click the green icon and then save.

Have fun!

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Karen,

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree. Thank you for volunteering, and I wish you luck connecting to your German ancestors!

Have fun and ask for help if you need it. WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems. See you in the branches –

If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, please fill out the TAGS on your profile page and click SAVE TAG(s) AND VOLUNTEER.

Your Tags can include names like JOHNSON (a surname) or NEW_ZEALAND (a location) and a comment explaining why this subject interests you. Once you choose to Volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you'll be on your way! Welcome to the Family!
