Jean-Honoré Fragonard was a noted Rococo painter during the last years of the Ancien Régime in France.
The son of François Fragonard, merchant and Françoise Petit, he was born in Grasse on 5 April 1732 and baptised the following day. His godfather was Jean Honoré Fragonard, his grandfather; his godmother was his aunt Gabrielle Petit[1]. He married Marie Anne Gérard on 17 June 1769 in Vaugirard.[2]
