DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Regarding Eunice Barnes, as mother of James Franklin- I have seen only two possible sources for a James Franklin married to a Eunice or Uni. The Boston Transcript (which was a query), mentioned "Uni." As seen below, it is clearly talking about James who died in 1746, but it confuses the children with a previous generation. The other source is of a marriage intent in Bristol County, Rhode Island - Barrington, I believe - between a Eunice Barnes, and James Franklin (who did die in 1746), who I believe may be the son (not the father) of James Franklin who married Martha Ormsby. This one should not be confused with a James Franklin "of Providence," who married Hannah Talman or Tolman, and had children in Providence, Attleboro, and Scituate. Both of these James Franklin's are mentioned on the same page in the Bristol County, RI marriage records, but they are different James'.

Here is the full Boston Transcript item: Boston Transcript 12 Sept 1923 (1045) Who was James Franklin - - (d.1746). Dartmouth 1682, wife Uni. Uni appt. admin 4 Nov 1746. Children 1.)
