Biography
John Franks was born on Mary 4, 1817 in St Luke, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of William and Maria Franks. When John was 8 years old he was baptised on 10 July 1825 at their parish church in Dartford, Kent, England.[1]
He married Elizabeth Colyer Ware on October 1, 1837 in Northfleet, Kent, England.[2] Together they had 5 children.

In the 1851 census John (age 34) was living with his wife and 5 children in Shoreditch, Middlesex, England.[3]
John died on 25 April 1881 at Vicarage-lane in West Ham, Essex, England and their estate passed probate on 16 May 1881 in Principal Registry.[4]
FRANKS John. Personal Estate under £800. 16 May. Administration of the Personal Estate of John Franks late of 112 Vicarage-lane West Ham in the County of Essex Widower who died 25 April 1881 at 112 Vicarage-lane was granted at the Principal Registry to William Thomas Franks of 14 Dunmore-road-North Leytonstone in the said County Painter and Sarah Elizabeth Self (Wife of Edwin Self) of 1 St. Luke's cottages Cathall-road Leytonstone the Children and two of the Next of Kin.
