James Hamilton was an Irishman who owned a quarter acre town lot and a general store in the village of Warkworth. He was quite wealthy and very proud of his accomplishments. They moved to Belleville in 1877. After Martha’s death Mr. Hamilton married her cousin Nancy Jane Peterson.
Martha Hamilton, died 4 March 1894, age 49 years, 2 months, wife of James Hamilton, born Colborne. Cause of death, fibroid tumor, four months. Eliza Embury M.D. Informant J. D. Hamilton, gentleman of Belleville. Methodist.
