In the mid-30s she and her sister embarked on a steamer ship to visit Shanghai after hearing of the many eligible bachelors in Shanghai. Margaret found employment and met her husband Geoffrey Churchill in Shanghai. They were married June 21, 1937 at The Church of Christ the King. The wedding reception was celebrated at her home, 153 Western Road. Photos were taken at the Shanghai Club. They visited Japan for the honeymoon.
When hostilities broke out in the early 40s, Margaret returned to Victoria where she raised five children, including a pair of fraternal twins. She worked briefly for the provincial government before retirement. She lived with her sister Fantan Fraser and their cat Basil on Rockland Avenue, where she frequently hosted family gatherings. She passed away in 1998 with her family around her.
