Biography

From Family Document: Carrie Mae Frazier was the daughter of John Thomas (Tom) Frazier and Susan Clementine Dunn. She was born on June 1, 1884 in Mount Gilead, Montgomery County, North Carolina.

If ever a person was loved by the Frazier family it was Carrie. She had a sweet face and kind heart and was proud to be a Frazier. She was a firm believer in preserving the old family customs and traditions. An intelligent woman, Carrie had a precise memory. She was considered the Ambassador of Goodwill in the Frazier family.

By occupation Carrie was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She received her education in Marlboro County Schools.

At a young age, Carrie was asked by her grandfather John Frazier to be the family historian. Her writing began with the first Frazier immigrants that came to America. She included the names, dates and places of births and deaths, burials and other important information for each family member. (These writings are not to be confused with The Day Book Memoirs that have been speculated to have been written by Carrie in 1922.)

Unfortunately, the documents that Carrie created to preserve the Frazier family history have been lost. It is said that many searches have been made by family members to retrieve these invaluable sources to our family's history. All to no avail. It has been speculated that these documents may reside with a family member who has never come forward to share them.

Carrie Mae Frazier never married or had children of her own.

Carrie passed away on July 8, 1977 at The Bethea Baptist Home near Darlington, South Carolina. She had been in declining health for several months. She was 83 years old. Carrie was a member of the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church.

She is interred in the Frazier section of the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Bennettsville, Marlboro County, South Carolina.
