Martin was born in about 1794 in Virginia. In about 1827 he married Lydia Mantooth, most likely in Tennessee where both Lydia and all of the couple's children appear to have been born. [1] By tradition, Martin died 17 Sep 1887. While this is fully consistent with census records, no source supporting this date has been located.
