Biography

Amelia Freeland was baptised 13 November 1872 in Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, the daughter of Hugh Freeland and Margaret Forrest.^[1] Her father was a sheriff and officer of court sessions,^[2] and later a messenger at arms.^[3]

In December 1897, Amelia married John Brodie,^[4] and they subsequently relocated first to Toxteth Park, Lancashire^[5] where John found work as a civil engineer for the City of Liverpool, and then to Llanfaethlu, Anglesey.^[6]
