Biography

Milton was born in 1906 in Alabama. He was the child of Milton Freeman and his second wife, Margaret Unknown. The family was living in Waycross, Georgia, by 1920.^[1]

Milton married Della Arthur in January 1935 in Ft. Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida. Their witnesses were Mr and Mrs E. H. Wood Jr. Neither Milton nor Della had been married before. Milton was working for the Southern Glass Company at the time.^[2][3]

The 1935 Florida Census record indicates that Milton Freeman, born in Alabama, was married to a woman named Della, and was living in Miami, Dade County, Florida. ^[4]

By 1940, Milton and Della (named Mary on the census) and their four children - Milton, Leonard Robert, Mary Margaret, and Rose Marie, according to the US census, where still in North Miami, Dade, Florida. His mother, Margaret Slusher, was living with them in North Miami in Dade County, Florida. Milton was a truck driver for a contractor. His wife worked as a "weigher" for the Rich Farming Soil Company.^[5]

By 1945, the family had grown with the birth of another daughter, Carolyn. Margaret Slusher was no longer living with the family (she may have died about 1940). The family was still living in Dade County, Florida.^[6]

In the 1950 census Milton (age 43) was the married head of household in Dade, Florida, United States.^[7]

Milton passed away in July, 1981 in Dade County, Florida.^[8][9]

Note

Milton's father, Milton Sr or I, had the middle name of Floyd on some records and Howard on others. Milton, II, and his descendants III and IV used the name Milton Howard Freeman.
