Clyde was born in 1903. He was the son of Henry Freeman and Leila Bailey. His father died in 1908. In 1910, Clyde/Claude, his siblings, and widowed mother were living in the home of his grandfather, J L Bailey, in Jefferson, Jackson, Georgia. Claude was incorrectly listed as a granddaughter.[1]
His mother remarried to Robert Holliday. In 1920, the blended family was living in Red Stone, Jackson, Georgia. Clyde was referred to as Claude on the census.[2]
Clyde was either adopted by Robert or started using his surname.
In the 1940 census Clyde (age 35) was the married head of household in Oakland Judicial Township, Alameda, California, United States.[4]
In the 1950 census Clude [sic] (age 44), Hod Carrier, was the married head of household in Oakland, Alameda, California, United States.[5]
Clyde passed away in 1987 in California. His obituary stated he had four sisters, all from Georgia, that he resided in Paradise, Butte County, California, and had been a construction worker for 40 years.[6][7] His mother's maiden name was stated as Bailey on his death certificate.[8] The name on his memorial is Clyde Holliday.[3]
