Biography

Nathaniel Freeman was born January 7, 1749, the son of John Freeman and Bethia (Harding) Cobb, [1].

Circa 1774[2], Nathaniel married Mary Chase, daughter of Eleazer and Jane (Elder) Chase of Standish, and they had children in Gorham, including:

  1. Jenny, b. Nov. 5, 1775[3], m. Ebenezer Lombard, Nov. 12, 1794
  2. Mary, b. Jan. 10, 1778, m. Joseph Whitney, Aug. 2, 1801[4]
  3. Lydia, Aug. 5, 1780[5], who married Gershom Hamblen, Sept. 12, 1802; married 2d, Ezra Vincent
  4. David, born Nov. 26, 1782, [6], who married Bethia Bangs, July 14, 1806
  5. Bethia, Sept. 12, 1785[7], who married Enoch Shaw, Apr. 26, 1812
  6. Hannah, b. Dec. 25, 1789[8], m. Stephen Whitney, p. Nov. 24, 1810
  7. Betsey, b. Sept. 4, 1792, m. Cyrus Hamblen, June 13, 1816[9]
  8. Eunice, b. Dec. 26, 1794[10], who may have died young
  9. John, Jan. 31, 1797[11] m. Sally Hamblen, Oct. 20, 1816; lived in Standish, Gorham and Poland (Maine)

Nathaniel died in 1814[12]
