Columbus Whitfield Freeman[1] was born on May 21, 1870, in Buncombe, North Carolina,the child of Rufus Freeman and Sophronia Morgan[2]. He married Martha "Molly" "Mattie" Jane Huntley on September 26, 1895[3], in Henderson, North Carolina. He died as a young father in 1899 in Caroleen, North Carolina, at the age of 29, and was buried in Henrietta, North Carolina.
