Sophia "Sophania" Guthrie Freeman was born on December 24, 1810, the child of Rob Freeman and Catherine Seward. She married Theophilus Simon "Offie" Sales[1] on January 10, 1831, in Rutherford, North Carolina. She died on July 19, 1897, and was buried in North Carolina.

Sophia "Sophania" Guthrie Freeman; Information furnished by Chaplain James "Jim" Fritz Kirstein USN Ret.; She was born in Cathey's Creek, Rutherford County, North Carolina. Theophilus and Sophania were married in Rutherford County. She died in Old Tryon County North Carolina when it split up part became Buncombe County, North Carolina. She is buried in Gashes Creek Cemetery in Buncombe County, North Carolina.
