Biography

Sarah was born in 1848. She is the daughter of Hugh Freeman and Eliza Espy. In 1850, the family was living in Fanklin County, Georgia.In the 1850 census Sarah (age 2) was in Franklin, Georgia, United States.^[1]

By 1860, the family had moved to Clarksborough District, Jackson County, Georgia.^[2]

She married John G McElroy around 1865. By 1880, they were living in Banks County, Georgia, and had four sons - Robert, James, Hugh and Alvin.^[3] Her husband was a farmer.

By 1900, they had moved to Athens, Clarke County, Georgia.^[4] Children in the home included: Richard, Alvin, Josephine, twin sons - Cam and Coa, and daughter, Tiny.

Sarah passed away in 1910. Burial was in the Eastview Cemetery in Monroe, Walton County, Georgia.^[5]
