Richard French was born on the 8th July, 1868 in Arlington, Sussex, the third (of four) children of farm labourer Frederick French and Elizabeth Miller. The birth was registered on the 11th August 1868. The registrar was Henry Potter.[1]
On December 14th 1897, Richard married Kate Saunders at the Parish Church in Hailsham. Richard's occupation is cited as Miller. He was living in Battersea at the time of his marriage. They were married by J. Clyde Harvey and the witnesses were Harry Dawes and Catherine Harris Bennett.
The UK census of 1901 shows Richard working as a Brewer's Drayman, whilst the 1911 census shows him as a Brewer's Car Man.
By 1931 Richard and Kate had moved to 52 Foreign Street, Camberwell, London, SE 5.
He passed away at home on the 2nd May, 1931 a result of cardiac failure. The death was registered by his son Arthur French the same day.
He was buried in Streatham Park Cemetry.
