Biography

Joanna French was born December 16, 1683, the daughter of Samuel French and Hester Jackman.^[1]

In 1703, Joanna married Matthew Pettengill, son of son of Matthew Pettengill and Sarah (Noyes) Pettengill. Children of Joanna and Matthew are:

• Abraham Pettengill, born December 4, 1704, at Newbury

• Benjamin Pettengill, born May 15, 1707, at Newbury

• Joanna Pettengill, born September 1709, at Newbury, died before 1756, married Daniel Wooster, of Newbury, August 29, 1727

• Judith Pettengill, born October 28, 1711, at Newbury, married Timothy Davis, of Salisbury, on November 18, 1736

• Rebecca Pettengill, born July 23, 1714, at Newbury, died July 2, 1719

• Matthew Pettengill, born November 8, 1716, at Newbury, died in 1736, at Salisbury

• Samuel Pettengill, born June 10, 1719, at Newbury
