Addie was the daughter of Cassius and George Ann (Johnson) French of Estill County, Kentucky and the sister of Etta, Emma, Bessie, and Minus. She was born in 1883. Her father died in 1892, when Addie was just 11 or 12 years old. Addie married John Campbell on January 12, 1899, in Estill County. He was a farmer in Estill County. The 1900 US Census shows Addie's younger siblings and widowed mother living with her and John and their baby, Annie. John and Addie's other children were Oscar, Earl, Wilfred, and Georgia. Addie died in 1953 and is buried in Kindred Cemetery, Estill County, Kentucky.
