Margaret French was christened in Frampton on Severn, Gloucestershire on 21 June 1835[1]. She was the daughter of Thomas French and Jane Phelps.
At the time of the 1841 England, Wales & Scotland Census, Thomas, Jane, Elizabeth, Margaret, Thomas, John, and Jane Welch were living at Town Field Farm, Frampton upon Severn, Gloucestershire, along with a governess, an agricultural labourer, and a female servant[2][3].
