Biography
Percival Edward French was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in winter 1886, the sixth son and seventh child of Samuel French and Susannah Smith. The family had moved to Manitoba from Gloucestershire in 1881, and continued to engage in farming. Two further siblings were added to the family by 1891: Clara and Stanley.[1] The French family relocated to Vernon, British Columbia later in 1891.[2]
He graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College, University of Toronto, in 1911. While at university, he captained the college hockey team in his junior and senior years.[3]
Percival Edward French died in Vernon in spring 1949,[4] and was buried in Vernon Cemetery[5]. On his death registration, Percival's occupation was listed as "Farmer".
