Silas (or Silus) was born in Billerica, Massachusetts on 12 October 1762.[1][2][3] He would later become the first of this line to move to Hollis, New Hampshire,[4] where he established a farm, married, and raised a large family.[5]
Marriage & Family:
When he was 34, Silas, (Sr,), married Sarah, (Sally), Reed on March 4, 1796, in the township of Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.[6] Sarah died on 24 August 1838. Their marriage lasted forty-two years.
Silas and Sarah were the parents of eleven children:
William Reed French (1820-1889), who trained to be a cooper, moved to Enfiled, Connecticut. He married Mary V. Johnson there in 1847.[5]
Death & Burial
Silas died in Hollis, New Hampshire on 12 April 1843[7][8] and was buried in the Congregational Church Cemetery, in Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.[9]
