William French was baptised on 5 Jun 1836, at Salehurst, Sussex, England (approx 1 mile from Robertsbridge). His parents were recorded as Robert and Elizabeth French. ^[1]

In 1886, William Everet French registered a Horse And Cattle brand (W6F) in Queensland, Australia, for Currawinya, near Hungerford, N.S.W. ^[2] This brand was still registered by him in 1895. ^[3]
