Elizabeth Frew was born about 1849 at Kilwinning, Ayrshire. Scotland. She was the daughter of John Frew and Elizabeth McKechan.
John Watson married Elizabeth Frew 30 April 1869 at Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland. [1]
John Watson age 30 and Elizabeth Watson age 26 and their family emigrated from Scotland, via London, England to Queensland, Australia in 1875. They arrived in Queensland on 26 February 1876 on board the ship 'Indus'. [2]
Elizabeth (Frew) Watson passed away 18 September 1883 at Gympie, Queensland, Australia. [3]
Notes:
Elizabeth was about 20 yrs of age when she married John Watson.
Although I have been unable to find an OPR for her birth she was found through a Poor Relief record in Kilwinning dated 1864 which gave information on her as well as information on her father John Frew who had left Ayrshire for Pennsylvania.[4]
Her mother Elizabeth had died in 1862 about 2 years following the birth of her last child Margaret Frew and sister to Elizabeth Frew.
Other notes on Elizabeth:
Note: Bleaching Mills: The chief industry in the Renfrew and Paisley villages was formerly bleaching and the finishing of cotton cloth and thread in preparation of looming. Two main bleaching works existed at Bowfield and Midtownfield, the former being the last to close in the 1960s.
