There is some dispute as to the link between our Maria Magdalena Frey Beitel and Johann Martin Frey the Revolutionary War veteran. There is documentation for Johann Martin Frey and Maria Magdalena Scherer Frey having a daughter Maria Magdalena Frey but she only lived 3 months according to church documents. Many genealogists on this site are searching for the link but thus far there is no document showing the parents of Maria (Mary) Magdalena Frey Beitel. One explanation could be that since there is proof that Johann and Maria had one set of twins Frank and jacob, there might have been another set of twins Maria and Mary and one of the twins did not survive. It may never be resolved to the liking of DAR and SAR.
