DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

It seems that there is a serious problem in the profile, which names one set of children that doesn't match the ones listed in the will: "Alternate/additional information in re his children: John Frey or Fry, third son of the immigrant Heinrich, married a Miss Kiesler and made his home at Franconia, in Montgomery County, Pa. His children were Jacob, Henry, John, Joseph, Amos, Polly, Anna, Hannah, and Betsey. Of these, Jacob married Elizabeth Beard and left issue by her at Trappe, in Montgomery County, of seven children, Jacob, John, Samuel, Mary Anna, David (died young), Daniel, and Hannah; Henry made his home in Chester County, Pa.; John resided at Essecks, in Montgomery County; Joseph married Mary Getty and resided at Trappe; and Amos made his home at Pottstown, in Montgomery County. However, the records of the younger son are not in evidence." It seems likely that two John Frys have been confused. Does anyone have more details to separate them?

My own view is that the will is correct and the alternate information is simply incorrect but still about this same John Frey. Patricia Hickin added that alternate/additional information on 10 December 2019. You may want to ask her directly about it's source, etc. and whether it can be removed or corrected.
posted by Robert Moody
I think you are correct. Those names in the alternate information don't seem to have the right dates to even be the same generation. Note that the last mention in the biography of a "son John Frey (1732-1819) citing source 6 (find a grave) also appears to be incorrect. There is some Y DNA evidence for the line from that John Frey that does not match a line from Enoch Frey. And the will doesn't mention a "John Frey".

I removed the alternate information. It's preserved in the change record if there's a need to revisit it. The listed children of John Frey seem solidly sourced to me.

I have never looked at Frey Y-DNA information. My own experience is there are quite a few lineages with an unexpected father. It's hard to pin those down when they occur that far back. But it's a possible explanation for the situation you describe.

Does anyone have information about what became of John's daughters and if there are any possible matrilineal descendants of them?
