Biography

Clothilde Fruge was born 24 January 1837 to Antoine Pierre Fruge and Marie Euphrosine Hebert and her later baptism recorded at St Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, St Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1]

She is 13 years old at the time of the 1850 census and living with her widowed father and siblings in Lementon in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.[2]

The next year, at the age of only 14 years, she wed Antoine Moreau, the son of Pierre Moreau and Marie Anne Babin, on 5 June 1851 in St Martinville, Louisiana.[3] Note: Pierre Moreau's mother, Marie Anne Babin was the daughter of Ignace Babin and Marguerite Breau.

Sadly, Clothilde died 9 September 1852[4] the day after giving birth to a daughter Marie Clothilde.[5]
