According to the book, The Fruges of Fakaitaic, Joseph "Augustin" Fruge was born May 21, 1824 to Augustin Fruge, Jr and his first wife Marie Lesage.[1]
This is confirmed in St. Landry Catholic Church records.[2]
He wed Merenthe Miller on the eighth of May 1843 at the Opelousas Court House.[3]
Fruges of Fakaitic adds that he received the sacrament of the sick on March 2, 1892 and was buried the next day. The church record indicates he died on the 3rd of March at the approximate age of 68 years.[4]
His succession was filed in Opelousas later that month.[5]
There was a Joseph Augustin Fruge, son of Augustin, that married a Marie Louise Miller at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau on 8 October 1843.[7]
Is this the same couple, having a church ceremony? It's not clear to me as Marie Louise's parents aren't given. Joseph Augustin and Emerante were in Grand Coteau in 1845 when they had their son Gerard[8]
and were back in Opelousas in 1846 when their daughter Zilia was born.[9]
There are no children born to Joseph Augustin and "Marie Louise" Miller found on the CD.
