Alexis Fruge was born to Pierre Antoine Fruge and Susanne Burns on 23 September 1801 and baptized at St Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas on 21 November 1801.[1]
Alexis wed Josephine Henri Bureau on 2 August 1825 at the same church after obtaining their license on the 15th of July.[2]
Interestingly, "The Fruge's of Fakaitaic" does not include Alexis as a child of Pierre Antoine & Susanne Burns. In fact the only mention of an Alexis is a cattle brand was registered for Alexis "Pierre" Fruge on 21 November 1821.[3]
I have found little information on Alexis and Josephine past their marriage date. He frequently was a witness or sponsor in church ceremonies earlier in his life,[4] but the last was when he was godfather to his niece baptized in November 1827.[5]
There was a succession for an Alexis Fruge dated 26 January 1857 at the Opelousas Court House.[6] It seems likely this is him.
