Biography

Jean Pierre Fruge was born 21 August 1793 to Pierre Antoine Fruge and Susanne Burns and his baptism was formally recorded 18 May 1794.[1]

On 3 September 1816 he married Marie Carmelite Miller, the daughter of Jean Frederick Miller and Marie Victoire Mayer at St Landry Church in Opelousas, Louisiana.[2]

They had 3 sons and 2 daughters. Census records cited below suggest that Carmelite died before 1860 and Jean Pierre moved to Liberty County, Texas with his son Julian before the 1860 census (probably about 1857 based on where Julian's children are born. I'm unable to find the family in the 1870 census.

  3. David Fruge born about 1823[5] who wed Celeste Miller 14 September 1840.[6]

  5. Julien Fruge born 4 July 1827.[8]
