Josiah & Elizabeth Fugate owned 2400 acres of land on the New River in Montgomery Co., Virginia before moving to Russell Co. They were settlers of Moccasin Creek in southwest Virginia. They settled mostly in Perry & Clay County on the Kentucky River, near present Hazard, Kentucky area. [1]
