John Fuller, the eldest son of John Fuller and Hester Enloes[1], was born in Baltimore County, Maryland during the winter of 1681.[2][3]
He married Sarah Nicholls around 1700.
The couple had six known children:
John and Sarah raised their family in Gunpowder Hundred, where John was a planter by occupation.
In 1720, he leased a 120 acres tract called, "Fuller's Forest", for both his lifetime and the lifetimes of his sons, Henry and Nehemiah.[4]
John appears to have died in the 1740s.
20 Oct 1701 - John Peters and Hester, his wife, with John Fuller and Sarah, his wife, to William Peckett, for 500 pounds tobacco and “divers other good considerations” 6 1/4 acres "Waterton’s Neglect". (note: This record indicates that John Fuller was not yet 21 years of age and could not devise property on his own. John Peters acted as his power of attorney.)[2]
3 Mar 1702 - John Fuller, planter, and Sarah, his wife, of Baltimore County to John Anderson, of Baltimore County for 3000 pounds tobacco, 148 acres "Buck Range".[3]
6 Apr 1705 - John Fuller, planter, and Sarah, his wife, of Baltimore County to Nicholas Herbert, planter of same county, for 3000 pounds tobacco and “divers other good causes and considerations” 200 acres “John Nicholasos Land” on Bow Creek.[5]
20 Mar 1720 - Ebenezer Cook, Gentleman of Cecil County on behalf of Henry Lowe to John Fuller, planter, of Baltimore County for 2£ and 8 shillings, 120 acres "Fuller's Forest", lifetime lease of 12 shillings and two capons at the Feast of the Nativity yearly for the duration of life for John Fuller and his sons Henry and Nehemiah.[4]
4 Apr 1723 - John Fuller, planter, of Baltimore County and James Isham, John Elliott and Nehemiah Hicks, of same county, jointly interested and possessed of 180 acres "United Friendship".[6]
20 May 1725 - PATENT to John Fuller for 180 acres "United Friendship".[7]
4 Nov 1731 - John Fuller, of Baltimore County to James Isham, of same county, for 600 pounds tobacco, all his title, rights and interests in 180 acres "United Friendship".[8]
Deed records pinpoint John's birth - he was not yet 21 years of age on 20 Oct 1701, when he jointly sold land with his mother and stepfather (who acted as John's power of attorney). But four and a half months later, on 3 Mar 1702, he had reached 21 years and was able to convey land with his wife. This indicates that he was born in the winter of 1681.
As his father died prior to his reaching the age of majority, he was never designated “junior” in any record.
Likely deceased in 1742, as this is the first year his nephew's name is written as "John, Junr." rather than "John, son of Thomas" (while alive his nephew was the youngest of three living John Fullers, while his son was the second eldest or "junior" during that time).
Was administrator for the estate of Nicholas Herbert. Posted bond 7 May 1713 with stepfather, William Wright and uncle by marriage, James Durham as sureties.[9]
