Nathaniel died around 1778. He is said to have been captain of the privateer "General Stark" and to have died of wounds suffered in an engagement. A bio of his son James states instead that he was taken prisoner by the British, and the ship on which he was being sent to England was lost at sea.[3]
On 5 February 1779, Dummer Jewett Esqr. was appointed guardian to Nathaniel Fuller Junr. of Ipswich, a minor aged above 18 years, son of Nathaniel Fuller of Ipswich, mariner.[4] An account of Nathaniel Jr.'s property made by Dummer shows interest in a ship as well as significant goods, such as sugar and rum.[5]
