Biography

Little is known about Elizabeth (Unknown), first wife of Thomas Dane of Concord. She was probably born in Kent, England about 1604, Her name at birth and her parents are not known, nor do we know how or when she arrived in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Some say that her name was Widdhouse, but evidence is lacking. [1]

Elizabeth was married to Thomas Dane in Concord before 1638, Their first child, a son named Joseph, was born about 1638. [1] [2] [3]

Elizabeth was still Thomas Dane's wife in 1648; sometime thereafter, she died (some report that she died as late as 1673) and Thomas married, second, Mildred (Unknown) in Concord (possibly in about 1673). Mildred died September 13, 1673.[1] [1] [2] [3]

Research Note

Robert Charles Anderson (The Great Migration, Volume II, page 281) has expressed some concerns as to whether the Thomas Dane who arrived on the Elizabeth and Ann in 1632 is the same person as the one who married Elizabeth (Unknown) in Concord. These concerns are dealt with on the profile of Thomas Dann.

She immigrated to America before 1638.

She married Thomas Dane (Dean) in 1638 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[2]

Children: Joseph, Sarah Frances, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth.

She died in Massachusetts, likely around 1649. [3] After her death, her husband married a second time to Mildred ___.

Sometimes her death is indicated as 1648 or after 1648. The only basis that can be found for this is a text that says she was Thomas Dann's wife for the period 1645-8; there is no mention of her death [4].

Fuller-2703 and Unknown-1949 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate. Correct LNAB should be Unknown.

Merge should be postponed until a primary source is found. I searched for the marriage with Thomas Dane (Dean) and could not find any evidence.

Fuller-2703 and Unknown-1949 are not ready to be merged because: There is no source cited and Elizabeth Fuller was removed as wife of Thomas Dane once before. I searched for records of this marriage with no luck yet and until a primary source is found these should NOT be merged. There is enough difference to postpone the merge.

Unknown-1949 and Fuller-2703 appear to represent the same person because: Family and dates seem to be the same

Dane-71 and Unknown-1949 appear to represent the same person because: STOP! There are very different dates. A child that was linked to Dane-71 was merged. See: Dane-40. If Dane-71 was in fact the mother of Joseph Dane-40, this Elizabeth's last name has not been documented and is unknown at this time. It is unlikely that Elizabeth's last name was the same as her husbands, but possible so if either can provide documentation as to a correct last name or a last name of Dane at birth, please add this info to the profile and correct the profiles/merge as needed. Thanks!

Fuller-2835 and Fuller-4224 appear to represent the same person because: David, Hi! I received this message "The following was sent via the private messaging system on WikiTree.com.

Both Thomas Dane and his son Joseph Dane were married to a Elizabeth Fuller? The sender, DeeDee Walters.

After reviewing information available on line, and WITHOUT digging into the actual documentation, it appears that Joseph Dane/Dean was indeed married to an Elizabeth Fuller. I did remove Fuller-4224 from Thomas Dane-28. PLEASE take a moment to review this merge. It may NOT be a merge and you may have other information to document that Thomas was indeed married to an Elizabeth Fuller. If so, please add her back to Thomas and source the info that you have to her profile and also to Thomas. Set these two then as a reject. If this is the case, then our Elizabeth Unknown-1949 may be the correct merge. I'll leave it to you. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help! Nae
