Philo was a fourth and fifth great grandson of Mayflower passengers, Samuel and his father, Edward Fuller.

Philo Fuller, son of Ashbel and Loraine Millard FULLER, was born October 18, 1802 in Ferrisburg, Addison County, Vermont, United States of America.[1]

Philo grew up in a home with his parents and ten siblings. He was the seventh of eight sons and of his three sisters only one was older than him:[2]

Philo was about 8 when his father included him in the count for the 1810 United States Census.[3]

Philo married Betsey Walker of Ferrisburgh, Vermont on January 1, 1822. Together they had 8 children:[4][5]

In the United States Census for 1830 Philo was enumerated on the same page as his father, Ashbel, and four of his older brothers: Heman, Stillman, Sheldon and Ashbel. They were all living in Fowler, Saint Lawrence, New York, United States of America. Philo was recorded having three others in his household: two males were one under five and the other was between twenty and thirty; and the two females were one under five and the other was between twenty and thirty. This accounts for Philo at 28, Betsey at 28, and their two oldest children, Armintus (1824- ) and Araminta (1828- ).[6]

Ten years later the Philo Fuller family had moved to another state in the United States of America. Their home was in Canaan Township, Madison, Ohio. They were the only Fullers on the Census for 1840. The four who were counted in the last census were now numbered as ten years older and there were four additional girls under ten, three of whom were named in the Census for 1850: Lorinda (1832- ), Sylvenia (1835- ), and Edelia (1839- ). The other girl could have been born in the thirties and either married or passed away during the forties.[7][8]

Philo, listed as a farmer in 1850, had relocated his family to Appanoose County, Iowa. His household totaled eight: his wife, Betsey, Lorinda and her husband, David Benner, Sylvenia, Edelia, Ashbell and Betsey.[8]

By 1860 Philo was residing in Richland Township, Putnam County, Missouri. When he was enumerated for the 1860 United States Census Philo had real estate valued at $1000. and personal property at $400. He was a farmer with two farm laborers: his son, Ashbell, who aged 8 years since the last census. and David Warren 19 form Illinois. His wife was listed as Delila aka Betsey. Zera aka Betsey was 14.[9]

Philo and Betsey were 72 during 1870 and still living in Missouri as a farmer. His real estate was valued at $250. and personal property was $300. Betsy was keeping house with their daughter, Sylvania at home. His son, Ashbell was next on the census with his wife, two sons and a baby girl. The value of Ashbell real estate and personal property was equal to that of his father.[10]
