Editing Note

This profile is part of the Fuller Name Study.

This is one of two individuals named Samuel Fuller killed in 1676 at Rehoboth in what is called King Phillip's War.

This is the Samuel Fuller who was a son of Robert Fuller, and who married Mary Iyde/Ide.

Biography

SAMUEL FULLER, the son of Robert Fuller and Sarah Bowen, was born in 1649.[1]

He married MARY IDE, December 12, 1673 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts.[2][3]

Samuel Fuller died August 15, 1676 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts. His wife was Mary Ide, his mother was Sarah (Bowen) Fuller (abt.1624-1676), and his father was Robert Fuller (abt.1615-1706).[4]

During King Phillip's War in 1676, Samuel's mother Sarah Fuller, and her sons, John and Samuel [this profile] and son-in-law Nehemiah Sabin, were killed during an Indian attack on the town. Father Robert's home and most of those in the town were destroyed in a raid during King Philips' War. [5] Samuel was buried August 15, 1676 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts.[6]

Child of Samuel Fuller and Mary Ide

Samuel Fuller was born 25 Nov 1676 a few months after the death of his father,[7] or 23 Nov 1676 in Rehoboth[8]

His inventory was taken on 29 August 1676. It includes property "which was his father's: viz. Robert Fuller". Mary Fuller, his widow made oath to the truth of the inventory on 17 November 1676.[9]

No Daughter Abigail

No evidence has been found that Samuel and his wife, Mary (Ide) Fuller had a daughter, Abigail. There have been no reliable sources found with proof of a marriage between an Abigail Fuller, and Israel Stowell.

Research Notes

Samuel Fuller, is often confused with Samuel Fuller (abt.1630-1676). However, Samuel Fuller's father is Matthew Fuller. For over a century, there has been confusion between Matthew Fuller of a Mayflower line -- presumed son of Edward Fuller, -- and Matthew Fuller, a son of John. The clearest explanation is that offered by Bruce Campbell MacGunnigle, _et al._, in The American Genealogist in 1985;[10] MacGunnigle's conclusion that Capt. Matthew Fuller was indeed a son of Edward was accepted by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, and published in the GSMD's "Silver Book".[11]

This profile will need careful research before any changes or merges are made.

The project protection indicator was set because of confusion of a number of Samual Fullers living in the same area the same time. This use of the project indicator is now obsolete. I will research this profile further. Becky
Fuller-6095 and Fuller-2715 do not represent the same person because: Too many years off on dates of birth.
There is additional information on the internet which shows that of the two Fullers killed in Rehoboth on the same day in King Phillips had different first names. One was Samuel and one was John.
I am rejecting this merge with Fuller-2715. There is enough conflicting information between the two profiles.
