Biography

Elizabeth's Revolutionary War pension documents provide us with data as to who her husband was and who her parents were. She made a declaration for proof of her marriage to Jacob Fulmer, giving the marriage date (17 August 1813) and the name of the minister (Rev. Thomas DeLoach) who performed the ceremony. Two individuals swore to their knowledge of Elizabeth's marriage and how long they had known her. One individual was John I. Able who stated he was Elizabeth's brother. The other individual was Elizabeth Able who stated she was the widow of one of Elizabeth's brothers. These statements were made in Lexington County on 12 June 1855 and Elizabeth signed hers with her mark.

NOTE: John Ingram Able is listed as a son of Jeremiah Able and Elizabeth Able is, more than likely, the Elizabeth Rish who married Asel Able, another son of Jeremiah. John was probably a brother via her father's second marriage to Elizabeth Roberts.

Elizabeth and Jacob had two children - Mary Elizabeth and Jacob Junior.

It appears Elizabeth Able Fulmer was still living in South Carolina in 1855. She may be the Elizabeth A. Fulmer, age 72, who was living in the household of a George Fulmer in the Lexington County 1850 census.

At some point after making her declaration in South Carolina she moved to Talladega County, Alabama, possibly when her daughter and son-in-law moved there. She died prior to 1860 in Talladega.
