Biography

William Fuqua Jr is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.

When William Joseph Fuqua was born in 1724 in Charles City, Virginia, his father, Joseph Fuqua , was 34, and their mother, Anna Sampson, was 36. He had one daughter with Mary Polly Daniel in 1762.

21 October, 1782: Deed of Trust - Joseph Fuqua to Joseph Fuqua Jnr and Jacob McGehee, Powhatan Co to William Fuqua, John Fuqua, sons of Joseph; Willliam & Jane Sampson, Bridge Beasley, William & Margaret Weatherford, John & Elizabeth Hill, Sara & Jacob McGehee, daughters of Joseph. "in consideration that the said Joseph Fuqua is now advanced in age and for some time past infirm so as not to be able to look after his own business," slaves to be held in trust for his children, Rec 18 Oct 1782[1]

He died on November 25, 1799, in Cumberland, Virginia, having lived a long life of 75 years.
