Biography

First name sometimes recorded as Onie.

Middle name recorded as Evelyn, Ann, and Mae, depending on source.

1910 Census, Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina
Israel M Furr M 40 North Carolina (for everybody)
Sarah Furr F 40
Luther Furr M 19
Marshall Furr M 17
Adam Furr M 12
Onnie Furr F 5
Martha Furr F 2
Janie Hatley F 8 Niece

Israel, Luther, Marshall, and Adam were working as farm labor. Sarah had 8 children and 6 were still living. Israel, Sarah, and Luther could read and write.

Cletus and Onnie's marriage registration indicates that Cletis Ridenhour of New London, son of Lawson and Martha, is marrying Onnie Eugann (Evlynn?) Furr of Albemarle, daughter of Oscar and Mary, both deceased. (This is not in agreement with Onnie's death certificate which records her father as I M Furr and her mother as Sarah Hatley.)

1930 Census, Ridenhour, Stanly County, North Carolina
Cletus Ridenhour M 30
Onnie Ridenhour F 25
Geneva Ridenhour F 6
Ralph Ridenhour M 2
Hoyle Ridenhour M 1
Martha Ridenhour F 68 Mother

Once again, the ages are not very trustworthy. Cletus was a farmer on a general farm. Although he was unable to read or write, Onnie was fully literate.
