Biography

In 1905 Katie Lived with her mother, Mamie< and her older brother George. She was a milliner.

1n 1910, Katie lived with her husband, Harry J Vail, and their newborn son, Harry. Mamie and George also lived with them.

"Grandma was two or three years old when they [Mamie, Carrie and George] came to this country with their mother [who was pregnant at the time with Katie]. When they got here, the mother learned that the father had died while they were on the boat.

She had no English and I would assume, no money. She worked as a seamstress and had a strong desire - that all of her girls would have dancing lessons. They did! Somewhere there is a picture of her with the three girls - check with Valerie. She looks like a very strong woman!
