Biography
Elizabeth was born on May 6, 1905 to William E and Joanna Allen Gaines in Spartanburg County. She spent most of her life in Greenville County She was a student of Converse College and a graduate of the Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. She also studied social work at New York City University. [1] She served as executive secretary for the Hopewell Tuberculosis Association. [2] After her husband's death, she lived and traveled with her sister Lillian. She had two children. Elizabeth Gaines passed away on July 6, 1970. [3]
