Ann Pollard Gaines was born about 1760, daughter of James Henry Gaines (~1733–1788) and Mildred Bland Pollard (1736–1796). Her brother was Abner LeGrand Gaines. Her husband, James, was brother to her sister-in-law Susan Elizabeth (Mathews) Gaines. She passed away in 1844 and was buried in the family burying ground. Hers and immediate and extended family member graves were later moved to Highland Cemetery.
