John Gaines
Aunt Carrie worked as a housekeeper for a doctor in Strasburg, VA. It was her only source of income and she was extremely frugal. Each year when she came for Christmas she would give me one white handkerchief. I remember she would gather up all of the wrapping paper and neatly fold it up to use again the next year. She was a very sweet person and gentle soul.
