Biography
Helen Galloway was born on 8 November 1822, the daughter of David Galloway (1779-1849) and Helen (Paton) Galloway (abt.1790-1871),[1] in Tealing, Forfarshire and was baptised on 17 November 1822 in Monikie, Angus, Scotland.[2]
Helen married Alexander McNicol on 26 September 1840, Inverarity and Methy, Angus, Scotland.[3]
Helen passed away in 1866, she is buried at Warriston Cemetery, Edinburgh, Scotland.[4]
Research Notes
Helen baptised in 1822 was not the daughter of David Galloway and Helen Wilkie as in the initial Gedcom import, but the daughter of David Galloway and Helen Paton (see baptism source). The two families were conflated in Helen's parents and siblings profiles.
Evidence needs to be provided that it was the Helen born in 1822 that married Alexander McNicol. The alternative was Helen Galloway, daughter of Alexander Galloway and Anne Weir, born in 1820 in Tealing, the same birthplace as listed in the census citations.[5]
