Biography

An English novelist and playwright, best known for The Forsyte Saga.

John was born at Galsworthy House(was Parkhurst) in 1867[1] He was the son of John Galsworthy and Blanche Bartleet

He was living with his parents and siblings in Kingston, Surrey, England in 1871[2]

He was a boarder living at Derby Rd Saugeen, Christchurch, Hampshire, England and he was attending school in 1881[3]

He was boarding in Eastbourne, Sussex, England with his siblings and he was a barrister in law in 1891[4]

He was living in Chelsea, Middlesex, England and he was a Novelist in 1901[5]

He wrote his first publication was in 1897 called From The Four Winds, A Collection of Short Stories. These and several subsequent works were published under the his pen name of John Sinjohn until 1904.

He started publishing under his own name from 1904 when he wrote his fisrt play The Silver Box in 1906.

He married Ada Cooper in St. George Hanover Square, London, England in 1905[6]

He was living with his wife in Kensington, Middlesex, England and he was a novelist and dramatist in 1911[7]

He campaigned for a variety of causes, including prison reform, women's rights, and animal welfare, and also against censorship through his work.

He passed away in 1933[8]

He was buried at Highgate Cemetery in 1933[9]

My grandmother supposedly had an affair with John Galsworthy, she was his cousins wife. My Mother Monica Dunkin was the result of the affair. My Mum was constantly told by an older one of her 13 siblings, that her surname should have been Galsworthy.My mother does resemble him a lot. My Mum is 98 on 5th March, and I would love to find out for her if JG was her Father.
