Biography

Genevieve GAUCHE was born after 1600 in France. She was also known as Genevieve Gaucher or Gaugé or Gangé. Parents: Gilles GAUCHE and Jeanne BAUDELET[citation needed].

She was married to Noel LEVASSEUR before 1616 in Paris France. Children were: Jean LEVASSEUR, Jeanne LEVASSEUR, Pierre LEVASSEUR.

Marriage Noël Levasseur married Geneviève Gaugé, estimated date for such being 1619, in Paris France most likely. She never came to the colony.

Her son Jean's marriage contract clearly states she was already deceased on that day on 23 April 1645:

Research notes

No clear sources on her parents: they are only repeated on numerous genealogies which oddly claim Geneviève was born in Normandie (Bois-Guillaume or Rouen), without anything to support the claim.

Wife of Noël Levasseur [2] [3]

The Bois-Guillaume, Normandie connection is confused with another Jean Levasseur whose wife was Marguerite Maheu. Their son Laurent settled in Lauzon, Levis, QC married Marie Marchand 30 Apr 1670 in Quebec. Tanguay erroneously placed this couple in the family of Jean Levasseur & Marguerite Richard of Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs, Paris

Note that Fichier Origine for her son does not list any parents for her. http://www.fichierorigine.com/recherche?numero=242562
Ganche-8 and Gaugé-4 appear to represent the same person because: same man and wife, the wife's last name differs but considering the phonetic writing in this period and state of records, this is most likely the same name, similar sounding
