Ivan Bennion Gardner was born on August 26, 1925 in Afton, Wyoming to Wallace Ivan and Gladys (Bennion) Gardner. He served in the military during World War II. He married Carma Stevens on September 1, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were the parents of Theron, Glenn, Denise, and LuWand. According to his obituary, he was a computer programmer analyst at Hill Air Force Base for 31 years. He died on November 25, 1988, in Clearfield, Utah, at the age of 63, and was buried in Kaysville City Cemetery, in Kaysville, Utah.
