Biography

Note:

Clem was only a baby when his father Captain Meopham Gardner and his mother trekked across the prairie in a high wheeled  "democrat" to claim land at Pirmez Creek, Alberta. On the way the milkcow, the baby's only means of sustenance, died. His mother put flour in a muslin bag, poured slough water through it, added a spoonful of sugar, shook the ingredients, and put it in the baby's mouth.Young Clem accepted it and survived to become a successful rancher, a superb horseman and a good friend to the Indians.

In 1911 Clem married Helen Euphemia Hutchison who was born in 1885, in Eastern Township, Quebec.

They had 4 children:

1912 Rally (d. 1912)
1913 Noel Meopham (d. 1995)
1915 Audrey Helen m. McDougall (d.1974)
1918 Joan Ann Miriam m. Morgan (d. 1972)

She died in 1964 in Alberta.

He died in April 1963 at Pirmez Creek, Alberta.

Clem is buried at the Queens Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
