Biography

James Stedman Gardner was born July 12, 1864, the son of James Freeman Gardner and Miriam McLeod of Brooklyn, NS[1]. He appears with his family in the 1871 Census [2]

He was a ship's Captain and a shipwright[3]

On July 10, 1889, he married Ida May Leslie, daughter of James and Elizabeth Leslie[4], and they had children[5], including:

  1. Vivian Bertha, born April 3, 1891[6]
  2. Hester May, born 6 Jun 1899, who married Charles Giffin, the son of Wellington Giffin and Bertha Wright of Sable River[7]
  3. James Collins, born September 1900[5], who married Minnie Winters[8], and who died in 1948[9]
  4. Prescott Leon, born October 27, 1904[5], who married Muriel Elliott[10], and who died in 1963[11]

He died December 6, 1942 in Liverpool, NS[1]
